Hi all,

My daughter has had her first sensor fitted today at the hospital and I have a question already.

She tells me that when she scans the sensor she gets what she calls 'an electric shock like you get off the trampoline'.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had 'feelings' like this or is she just thinking she can feel something? Obviously I don't want to be telling her that she's imagining things if there's an explanation to it.

On a positive note,to say she only had it fitted this morning her readings are within 0.5 of her finger prick tests

Maybe its touching a nerve, I've got no electric shocks but I banged it getting out of the car and that really hurt! Like you say on a positive note my readings are 0.2 out so swings and roundabouts! Good luck : )

Is it on the vibrate setting? I've got the tone notification on the reader turned off, and the vibrate notification turned on. Could it be that she's feeling the vibration, if the reader is touching the sensor when scanning?

I have no electric shocklike effects from the sensor itself, BUT on occasion the sensor itself has sometimes felt a bit scratchy for an hour or two - but not when scanning, just when moving arm.

Sorry not to be able to offer anything more definitive, @Ellie's mum .

:)

I agree with the above.

I have used about 10 sensors (lost track to be honest, now), and with two of them I had very mild discomfort for about 24 hours. I think they must just have been positioned closer to a nerve than the others. But that discomfort always settled down by the end of the first day.

I have never had any sensation whatsoever when scanning, but since I have it set to vibrate after scanning, then I would feel that if it was touching the sensor. So I always hold it several centimeters away from the sensor.

Never had any electric shock feelings, just some occasional itchiness.

Thanks everyone, I've turned the vibrate off on the machine. Although she wasn't touching the sensor with the scanner it seems to of helped.

I had the same issue with my sensor. It didn’t zap me while scanning. It would zap for no reason at all. It hurt because it was unexpected. I haven’t been able to find any info on this happening to anyone else.

You'd probably be better starting off a new one
