Well done you! If you're feeling better (and not hungry!) even better. I'm never too bothered about food as such as long as I'm not hungry - I work on the food is fuel mantra I guess but nice to have options when you fancy a change. I may well try your porridge but with almond milk rather than water! Good luck I hope it all goes to plan! For the past few days I've been doing low carb for only breakfast and lunch...I have porridge with water no milk ...(I think the milk raised my blood sugars) and omelette or chicken and salad for lunch and it seems to be going well plus I downloaded a app called mysugr which I can write what I ate and the carbs I had.. and I do a bit of walking as well ...I'm trying to get my hba1c down from 8.1
Yep he did - I had asked a question in another 'thread' - something to note.I think it was @Spiker in another topic who mentioned that an allergy to dairy can show up as higher bg levels.
Ok advice needed if possible! I've lowered my CHO per day to approx. 35g and not over eating on the protein but blood sugars have escalated somewhat (for me anyway usually 5.3-5.7 or lower end) - often peaking over 10 which I don't like and feel just awful. Have been blousing constantly to try and get the sugars down and basals up (on a Medtronic Pump). Just asking the question - does LCHF suit everyone? I have always been very brittle and any teeny-tiny change to anything can cause havoc. I have considered something else may be going on in the background but rather than feeling 'unwell' I feel 'diabetic' if you get my meaning. I've noticed that it seems a greater proportion of people on this type of diet are T2 - if I'm wrong I'm happy to be corrected. Any advice or guidance would be gratefully received as I am losing heart- I think I'm doing all the 'right' things but rather than going down my insulin requirement is increasing. Help! Thanks in advance.
Thanks for replying Jack. I haven't ever noted any particular food allergies - only that high carb foods never sat well with me hence following a low carb food pattern for years. I suspect, for me cutting carbs too low and adding high fat is the problem. I guess this approach can't suit everyone?it does seem strange, I think I would be looking for food allergies. I would seek a HCP for testing and advice. I'm sure there would be suggested methods of working out what groups and foods on google, but I have no personal experience other than with celiacs and gluten
