i am T2 Diabetic - just started metformin - pre breakfast i am about 7 and go up to about 8.5 after two hours - but after eating a sensible meal this evening i shot up to 9.4. which was a bit of a shock, i dont know what i did wrong - i had a small amount of carb, some protein and some veg. how do i get it down quickly. any help appreciated thankyou

If you're up just a few points more than you'd like, and you want to come down, just go for a little walk, if that is an option for you. That should bring your glucose down some. Anything strenuous would possibly result in a glucose dump from your liver, but doing something steadily -like said stroll- should bring your blood sugars down.

I don't know what you consider to be a small amount of carbs, or a sensible meal, (what others consider a sensible meal would likely make me spike, so everything's relative to your own body and your own needs!), but if you're seeing a 9,4, there were likely a smidge more carbs in the meal than you could process in a decent amount of time. It's good that you're testing, now you know! Yay for knowledge you can work with.

Do keep in mind you're just starting out, don't expect everything to be picture-perfect straight in. It takes a little time to get the hang of things, and your body needs to adjust to the new status quo.
