Any information from real life experience will be much appreciated. I was diagnosed as pre diabetic in 2015. I did a pretty good job at controlling things by diet but the passed 4 years have been tough. A major breakdown in 2018 due to WRS filled by the pandemic and a recent bereavement. Levels now over 48 in low 50s last few months. Dr has decided to treat me with Metformin.

Of course diet and exercise need to get back on track - so much to do surrounding my father’s illness, death and being executor of his estate has meant I have neglected both. I hope things will settle down after the funeral and I can resume my routines. Metformin will now be part of that. Will it help me kick start getting levels down?

Hi,sorry to hear about your situation things will get better
When I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and then T2 I had know idea what to eat, my first BG test was 7.8 mmol, I was put on Sukkarto
(Metmorfin) I didn't really change my diet yet on my next appointment it was 5.3. I can only assume that the metformin was the reason.
I did have an upset stomach, first of all and took Lansoprazole but for some reason I got used to it and stopped the Lansoprazole
Vince.
