Hi guys thought I'd sign up for this and talk to everyone with diabetes. I've been T1, 16months now still not had a hypo which is good always kept an eye on my bs was just wondering when everyone had there first hypo after been diagnosed with T1 or is there some lucky person not had any?
Welcome to the forum I had one few days after diagnosis, still in hospital. Im not sure why you havent had any yet. Do you have good control? What are your average readings?
Ive just read in a book on diabetes that shortly after diagnosis, when your pancreas still produces some insulin, you may not have hypos. Unfortunately it wont last forever After honeymoon period you will need more insulin, and your body wont regulate your sugar levels by producing any extra insulin (or not when not needed)
Hi sid87
welcome to the forum
it has been that long I can't remember my first hypo !
Just as a precaution please do make sure to have some "emergency glucose" with you in case you need it.
good examples of this are jelly babies , rowntree's fruit pastilles, lucozade tablets , etc etc.
Hi guys just seen the replies. Yeah no doubt I'll have one was just wondering how long as I thought I would of had one by now. But on the safe side I've got the lucozade tablets which I always carry around with me and left some in work as well. Hope your ok urban racer and get back to safer levels soon mate
