New to the pump

I’ve just started (a couple of weeks ago) on the Medtronic 780. First time using a pump, so it’s fair to say it’s a bit of a learning curve!

All going well so far BUT… my sensor is repeatedly updating, which means it’s unusable for up to three hours at a time. Happens after I’ve been wearing it for 2-3 days (and it’s been working perfectly fine in this time). Blood sugars have been fairly stable in the lead up to the update. Nothing unusual happening. No knocks to the sensor etc.

Is this quite normal?

Hi!
This is no help whatsoever but I’m experiencing exactly the same thing and then it fails?!

Also, I’m still wearing my libre and the discrepancies between the readings are HUGE!

If it thinks the sensor isn’t working as expected it will go into updating mode to check the accuracy of the sensor. I’ve found it can happen if you knock the sensor, if you are not drinking enough water and are even slightly dehydrated or if your blood sugar is fluctuating a lot in a short period of time.

If it keeps happening and you’re concerned you can also ring Medtronic and they can go through some troubleshooting with you which may result in replacement of the transmitter if they deem it necessary.

Thanks - sugars seem quite stable before and after but I could be knocking it (so easy to do!). I’ll see what happens over the next few days and go from there.

Thanks again :)

I’m very eager to see how things go. I’ve had similar problems with my Medtronic 670 G of Do Not Calibrate Sensor Updating, This may take up to 3 hours. Then, after repeatedly getting this notification and having no numbers for 3 hours, it then says Change Sensor. Sigh. Rarely, it recovers and resumes to normal. This normally happens at night…often very late. Or, when I’m enroute to a concert, sitting down at dinner party, important appointment, etc. It can happen when BG is 100 or 200, on day one or day five. It’s nerve racking. I’m considering getting the 780G, but want to make sure they have remedied that Updating problem.
