New to this! Advice on milk please

I use milk in tea and coffee and cream freely in cooking.Whole milk has a smaller propotion of sugars, but I don't find the little amount I put in tea and coffee is a problem.
We are not mechanical devices and so we vary in how we handle foods on different days. Keeping low sugars fairly steady is more important than the decimal place on the meter, which only needs to be accurate within 20%
