was diagnosed 7yrs ago type 2 gone to see nurse for a smear test came out a diabetic 28.9 put me on metformin worked for a while,Numbers went up and up despite low carbing found Dr Berstein forum bought his books try my best to follow his regime.got into trouble with diabetic team at hospital I gave up on them if i ate the amounts they recommend I would be dead by now.was put on insulin novomix after i collapsed at doctors rushed to hospital doc said i needed to go insulin.Hospital thought they new better nearly finished me off.The food was awful all carb based even tried to get me to eat puddings said it was alright for diabetics one mouthful was enough for me so sweet it made my teeth hurt.took my metformin off me and gave me one insulin
injection a day. needless to say my numbers not good,An hour before I was to go home felt awful collapsed on floor woke up in bed sugar level 31.Hey ho at last diabetic doc ordered them to put me on novomix twice day.all well for awhile.See doc at hospital once a year was having probs again I got even stricter with diet kept a chart of everything I ate and drank for 6months was using more insulin than ever.So asked for fast acting insulin was refused seems Im to old to
fat and to expensive I am obese at 17st 61yrs .Not ready for the scrapyard yet.veryI was up set and getting really scared So rang up to see new diabetic sister So pleased I did she has been wonderful,read my charts and agreed with me about my diet She was very cross with doc and overoad him Im now on fast acting insulin and doing well waking up to 6.2 in a morning feel as If ive got a second chance at life.Sorry for long intro but a lot has happened.
