Ive just been diagnosed with type 2 and started metformin today. Stupidly i didnt plan my meal properly and after rushing around all day i just got a take out on the way home. 2 hours later my sugars are 9.2. Dont suppose thats massively high compared to what ive been reading but im worried how i can bring it down. Any advice gratefully received.

Sorry that you won't get this til hours after you posted the question, but the fastest way I've ever seen of bringing the blood glucose down a few points, is exercise.

Your looking for something that uses up muscle and blood glucose, so that's something that makes all your big muscles work,, for a few mins.

Run up and down stairs a few times. Dance energetically to a couple of songs. Jog a couple of hundred yards.

Of course, it depends on how fit you are - please don't overdo it!

10 mins later, test your BG.

It should have dropped quite a bit.

It's one of the reasons several posters on the forum go for after-dinner walks, or do some time on an exercise bike.

Hope that helps in future. :)
