New weight-loss plan for people with diabetes?

One of my friends has a colleague who may have hit on a scary weight-loss plan for larger people with diabetes........

The lady in question - I have no idea if she's type 1 or type 2 - has lost 1.5 stone in three weeks!
Her method?
Have a gastric band, suffer some discomfort and then only eat Muller Lite for 3 weeks.

I know it might be low-carb, but surely living on Muller Lite can't be good for glucose control?

p.s.
I won't be trying the gastric band approach, with or without unlimited Muller Lite

She must have been desperate to do that. Seen some of the gastric band operations on tv and it's horrific.

In the US where Bariatric surgery and gastric bands are quite common they do reckon that ,in some of these cases ,where the patient weighs 400-500 pounds and loses most of it that their diabetes does 'go away'. I would say it is more likely because they are not stuffing themselves with masses of carbs and are therefore in more control.

I agree about that. What the people on the programmes I've seen eat in a day would last me a week or more......most of the food would be thrown away!! Burgers, pizza and other fatty sugary food in gigantic portions. some of them topped 700lbs!!
