New year and T1 diabetes

Type of diabetes
Type 1
I spent the whole of new year in bed and got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on the 6th of January 2016. I went to the hospital expecting to get a few medicines for my sickness and get better but my BG was 33 mmol/l, subsequently I was kept in the hospital for 3 days. I was instantly put on 3 drips and on a strict diet in the hospital. My fingers were pricked every hour to check and analyze the amount of insulin required. The doctors explained the situation with great sensitivity and with a wide smile. How I would be required to take 5 injections a day (2 basal and 3 bolus) excluding any snacks and check my BG atleast 4 times a day.
I have taken control of diabetes and held it by its throat, I have downloaded an excellent mobile application and highly recommend it for carb counting; CARBS & CALS.
Additionally, another application known as D TRACKER is an exceptional tool to analyze various factors such as average insulin in the week or day, graphically represents the results of carbs, basal and bolus etc. This helps me self reflect my day or week and also assists me with rotating the areas for the injection.
Diabetes is no doubt a painful and monotonous luxury of life, I believe it disciplines my life, I genuinely believe it compartmentalizes my life. I think the discipline you show towards diabetes will eventually reflect on your life and this motivates me to be spot on with carb counting and every aspect of diabetes. It will help me hit my work targets in the day before each injection.
Diabetes is going to make me a millionaire. Unfortunately, getting diagnosed with diabetes was'nt my choice but I will not let diabetes control my life.
So for everyone who thinks diabetes is bad, it's terrible but don't think about it because it's a black hole. Just be precise with your carb counting, update your daily records, take your injection and move on with life (all of this can be done on the above 2 apps)

Don't let diabetes upset you, let's fight towards our goals in life and let diabetes only discipline us.

Welcome to the forum. When you become a millionaire can you lend us a tenner?

Glad to hear you have taken control of Diabetes rather than it controlling you and causing complications, well done.
