New Year, New LCHF Me

I honestly don't understand.
You are an intelligent bloke @akindrat18. You know what carbs do to you, so why indulge in so much?
Why have crusty bread as well as pie?

I did not touch the crusty bread, they asked me and I said 'no, i'm low carbing'. My blood sugar this morning is 9.4 and i'm yet to have breakast.

For my breakast I had a bowl of crunchy nut with milk and 2 hours later my blood sugar is at 7.2.

It is hard to do so when i'm back at my parents, they still don't get low carb and they even criticised my sister for having mayo with sweet potatoes instead of pie. Plus i'm still low carbing by having less than 100 grams of carbs a day and my breakfast only had 22.5 grams.

They don't need to get it, you just need to accompany them to Sainsbugs........

I expect all the shopping is done ready for when @akindrat18 goes for a visit @Ali H so that might not be an option, and i'm afraid I disagree, they do need to get it or @akindrat18 's efforts will be sabotaged each time he goes home.

Only if he lets it. Or if, indeed he goes home.

Akindrat has money for food at uni, take a celeriac and a dozen eggs home, job done! I refuse to believe this is an insurmountable problem.

By comparison to @akindrat18 's readings of only a few weeks ago, he's doing incredibly well to be honest.

I think some of us find this transition easier then others, and cope with variances in our diet better too. But, by comparison to those few weeks ago, akindrat's mindset is in a wholly different, and much better place.

Akindrat, you still have some way to go, but I think you've made great progress. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I do have money for food at uni, but it is only for uni. To be fair my blood sugars have been averaging 7 and always below 10.

My diet the past 3 days has included a bowl of crunchy nut with milk for breakfast, homemade chinese that included beef stir-fry (veg, beansprouts) cauli rice and sweet chilli chicken noodles, fry up of bacon, sausages, eggs and beans, bunless beef burger with bacon, salad and sweet potato fries.

I'm now back at uni and will be getting my first tattoo as a treat for my med-low blood sugars and after having a hypo during a game of bowling. Also this week, I will be seeing my gp about reducing my meds by a small amount.

Good to read you're doing so well @akindrat18 . I have to confess to a large dose of green eye that you can get away with crunchy nut cornflakes . Keep up the goodwork.

I was surprised with the crunchy nut as my blood sugar levels in the morning have averaged 7.5 and then 2 hours after average of 6.7.

I have just learnt that two of my flatmates are diabetic and I've been living with them since September!

What type are they? It'll be interesting to hear their views and experiences, although if T1s, their management regimes could be quite different, and indeed contrary to your own. Do they ever visit this forum?

Did they know about each other, or has there been some form of "bringing the skeletons out of the closet" at Akindrat Towers?

One of them is type 2 and is training to become a chef, the other has prediabetes and is a vegetarian. They have known each other for 2 years and are best friends. They didn't know about the forum until yesterday when I showed them after having a long talk with them.

Excellent. With a following wind, you may just have some new lower carb buddies.
