Thank you all iv just signed up to the Bertie course so I’m gonna have a good read up and hopefully by the time I see a nurse I’ll be a pro lol.
Out of curiousity how king did it take for people to see there nurses for the first time after diagnoses x
Hello Zoe, great that you're on the forum. I was diagnosed 6 months ago and had the same reaction as you and was scared because I didn't know everything. It takes time but I've learnt more from this site and the great people than I have from the diabetic nurses. I'm sure you will too. I asked loads of questions and always got so much help, you will too....... just ask even if you think it's silly, it isn't. Heads up and blood glucose down.Hi everyone
Iv recently been diagnosed with type 1 I’m at the end of January this year now on Lantus and novorapid.
In hospital I was told the basics of insulin etc but so much info and shock kind of hard to take everything in at once.
I was under the impression that I would be seeing a diabetic nurse ASAP as an urgant referral and have recently got an appointment for 10th April!!
I kind of feel like I’m a bit in the dark as this is all new with ‘carb counting’ and balancing out my bloods.
Does anyone have any advice in the easiest way to explain until I see a nurse? Or a good book to help?
Thanks in advance
Zoe
