Hi and hello everyone,
I wasn't sure where to post this so I posted it on both ask the experts and gestational diabetes forum - sorry. Basically I'm type 2 diabetic which has been diet controlled until I recently found out that I'm 14 weeks pregnant. Last week both my diabetic midwife and consultant both agree that I should start on Metformin twice a day but when I saw the dietician this week she reckons that I should go on insulin right away. My bg readings has been on target (pre-meals between 4-5.5mmol/L and post meal reading after 1 hour between 5-7.8mmol/L) with very few highs (the highest being 9.5mmol/L which happened only once).
My question is: Is it common to be given different advice by your healthcare professionals? if so, what did you do?
Many thanks in advance.
