Hi,
My name is Colum and I have Type 2 Diabetes. First diagnosed correctly 3 years ago next month. Had complained of sore feet and toes but Doc's never caught on. A chance letter / flyer from a pharmaceutical company alerted me to what could be wrong and I then asked for more tests. Positive at 14. Diet has been my main way of controlling it, but due to alcohol sugar level keeps going up and down. Tried the Low Carb Diet, but ballooned after falling of it.

I have been reading your topics and posts here and finally decided to do something about it. Always feeling tired and lethargic and only seeing the Doc's once a year. Just wanted to say thanks for all the postings and any advice I receive about managing diet and exercise will be greatly appreciated.

Once your blood sugar comes under control, you will feel much better.
If you are going for diet control, You need to restrict your carbs in some way. Whatever 8) suits you.
As for alcohol; Too much isn't good, but a glass of red wine of an evening can be very helpful.
The easiest way to exercise is o go with some kind of group. Health walks are found all over the place and very sociable. Just Google Health walks for your own area.

Thanks for the welcome. Been reading post's here a lot until I finally put something forward. Low Carbs seems the way to go, but that is like the Atkins diet, and it really got to me. My highest sugar count was 17, but that was a few weeks ago. Trying something called Fat Burning Furnace. It recommends reduced carbs with strength training and the odd glass of Red Wine (Yippeeeeee) and what carbs you do take, try and keep to wholegrain for the fiber.

I will let you all know how I progress, until then, thanks.

Colum

15 stone, sugar 15.
