Just popped in to say ello and thanks for having this site...its fantastic
I'm a type 2 who has finally been stuck on insulin as me body decided to have a strop and not behave anymore...
My dad is insulin controlled ...type 2 and my Aunt on mums side also...so it was kinda gonna be the way...
Two episodes of Septacemia made my body go into shock ..ist one 4 years ago pushed me over to borderline 2nd episode 2 years ago nearly killed me and the shock to my system and a terrible diet made me full blown...
I've been on insulin for 4 months..exanatide previously for 7...so glad they put me on insulin as the exanatide made me as sick as a dog...
I have my good days as well as dont wanna know ones...i take martial arts and work in a care home and do very physical work...lifting old ladies about lol.
I do what I want ..and am learning what I can and cant do ..and what to avoid...and what makes me feel terrible... I'm diabetic I'm not dead is my catch phrase....
I used to have horrendously high sugars..my highest was 31....I'm now on 60ml of Levamir nightly...and my fasting sugars have dropped from 16.8 and 20's to 7.6 and 6.8's Yaaay!!
Still gotta work on the daily ones..as they are still high...but i have a terrible sweet tooth and fight the urge to snack....but I'm winning....and know its not going to sort its self out until I make the effort...Now I'm getting to normal readings I feel more energised and more alert..and thats a good incentive eh?
I'm lucky to be alive..not many people survive severe sepsis ..i've done it 2wice...(botched kidney stone treatments caused it not once but twice..have decided to keep the stones in case its third time lucky! lol
I take every illness and set back on the chin...and deal with it ..afterall...I'm still here not many people are...
