Hello, I'm a 60 year old guy with (apology for long intro post) Psoriatic Arthritis + COPD and taken 3x courses of oral cortisteroids since January. I've just had an Hba1c test result of 72. I'm obese, I know, and am reducing carbs + sugars.
GP wants me to start on Metaformin 500. However I am also mildly anaemic and I think this plus cortisteroids use may have skewed the results somewhat. Is this possible? I don't doubt that I am currently diabetic but wonder if starting the course is wise without having had a Glucose Fasting Test or GTT. Advice would be appreciated.
