Hi, this is my 1st post in here. Forgot to ask my GP this but with diet & exercise, am I able to get my blood sugars back to the nondiabetic range? I don't just want to prevent getting T2, I want to go back to being "normal" again, is this possible? Strong family history and also need to lose weight.

The strong family history is against you and nothing can be done about that. However, the weight issue can be tackled and also the raised glucose levels giving rise to your pre-diabetic diagnosis. If you treat this as the kick up the bum you may need to change your lifestyle, change your diet and perhaps add some more exercise, you have every chance of reducing your glucose levels to what is referred to as "normal", but these changes are for life for the vast majority of us. Slip back to eating badly and you may end up back where you started - or worse.

Read round the forum, learn as much as you can about carbs and how they affect our levels, and ask as many questions as you like. This forum is the best place to be. Good luck. :)

Thankyou so much you two! Your feedback means a lot to me. I've made dietary changes and more to come. Bread is not my friend, esp the white stuff. Weight loss is a struggle but I won't give up. Enjoying the walks and will return to the gym in the new year. Testing my bsl still trying to get them back to normal again. Reading the forums to learn more abt testing. I agree, this IS a blessing, I am lucky, some poor people have no warning at all & def a kick up the backside lol
