I was diagnosed Type 2 four weeks ago with Blood Glucose levels in the high 20's. 4 weeks later using Gliclazide and Metformin my levels have improved down to single digits. I am a marathon runner and used to run 30-50 miles a week, up until 8 weeks ago anyway, but am now worried about having issues with blood sugar levels when I run. I've become scared to go out and run in case my body can't take it.
I don't seem to be able to get answers that I am comfortable with from my GP or the diabetic nurse. Is there a certain level I should be at before running?
I know that I should test before and after a run but what about during a run?
Also suffering blurred vision which I know is caused by the rapid drop in sugars.

Hi and welcome to the forum. What are your BG levels before and after a run? If they are ok, I don't think you would need to test during a run. But if you are worried, just take your test kit and do one or more tests so you have peace of mind.

I don't think there's any reason you can't keep running as much as you want to with T2.

I'm assuming you are not overweight, in fact are you quite lean? If so, you might have another type of diabetes - there are more than 2 types. About 20% of T2s are not overweight. Many of those probably have another type, but don't know about it. If your BGs haven't come down to a safe level yet, let me know and I will post some links for you. What sort of food are you eating?
