Hey Dawn, welcome to the forums. It may take a while, but the feeling will pass eventually. Just take it one day at a time. Don't try to run before you can walk. It will take time to learn everything you need to learn, and to listen to your body's changing needs. I've found the best way to tackle the feeling that the diabetes is controlling you, is to educate yourself and learn as much as you can. That way, you're the one in control.Hi all,
I was diagnosed type 1 end of February this year. I had a bad week being ill last week with the cold, sugars went sky high, really struggled to get control. My dietician wasn't too concerned today. Getting there slowly, struggle sometimes with this carb counting when out and about. For the first time today felt really down in the dumps and that this illness is controlling my life. I don't want that. Will this feeling pass? Dawn

There is SO much help and support available here, it's the best resource possible. Keep coming back and asking questions!
Hi @Dawn3010 ,
Feeling under the weather will certainly compound things. Then the high sugars will affect mood too.
It can be a double edged sword.
You will find your mojo!
Keep going Dawn, I'm sure there are more questions than answers but you will pull things round once over that illness I'm sure.
It probably will. It is maybe comparable to losing a loved one (although you supposedly didn't know you loved your pancreas until you noticed it's demise). In the beginning it's overwhelming, and after a period the anger, pain, frustration comes back once in while to remind you of how things have changed. Will this feeling pass?
