Hi all!

Thought I’d take the time to say hello.

I’m Chris. 36 from the UK.

Found out I was diabetic at the start of September 2020 following a blood test for something unrelated that showed by blood glucose to be very high (30), docs assumed it was a mistake so then had a fasting test, the results came in later that day and I was told to go to hospital immediately.

In hindsight I was constantly thirsty and peeing a lot but put that down to stress, not sleeping enough and working too much.

Since then I have been started on basal and bolus insulin, metformin, statins, regular blood monitoring and a low carb diet.

Still finding my way with the complexities of it all, feel like I’m constantly making dr appointments to sort out getting repeat prescriptions right, or to understand why my fasting glucose is still high etc etc.

Take care all and I look forward to learning from you all!

Chris

Hi Chris, and welcome!

Yes, it does take time to find your way around all the new things to learn, from diabetes management to managing your health care professionals and getting used to the new lingo. It also takes time to get used to having a demanding chronic condition.
Much of a rollercoaster at the start, but things will start to feel more normal after a while.

Please read around and ask about anything you like!
