And very down. Started empagliflozin and now getting FBG of 7 to 8 in the morning and between 7 and 11 at night. Pretty low carb diet, and reasonable amount of exercise. Clearly not good enough. Developed some problems with double vision which might be a result of dropping BS too fast, so fail all around. Nurse uninterested and judgmental. Hoping to find some support on here!

Welcome to the fantastic forums @Downanddepressed You are in no way a failure. Bodies, whether diabetic or not, are a very complex system of chemical and electrical reactions. Anything which disrupts either system causes problems. When a letter comes from the bank, tax office, Eye Screening Service, or anything that causes stress, blood sugar is affected by adrenaline kicking in. In your case insulin intolerance is the spanner in the works. Over many years I learnt which medical people to trust
and which to ignore. Hence I am still here! Many Type 2s will see your post and are sure to help out. Good luck

Hi. Can you let us know what your BMI is i.e. whether you have some excess weight or not. It all helps with pointers to the best approach. The low-carb diet will almost always help so great for doing that. Your BS figures aren't too bad so don't get depressed about it. Yes, the eye-sight problem should correct itself over the next week or two.

BMI of 27. Another 1/2stone should see it down at 25. And thanks for the kind words!

Hi I dont know if you are a newbie to the forum or T2 or both BUT you are not a failure. You have chosen to make changes to improve your BG. Although we all have a problem with carbs of any sort it varies individually. It can take months to get down to a level that reduces your BG to a satisfactory level. I would say 3 months would be good going. So well done you are really getting on with this. I found it useful to keep records of FBG, meals that could be banked as safe by testing before and two hours after and lots of other info like how are your levels after a bad night’s sleep or a stressful day or feeling unwell. So good on YOU and never mind the nurse’s lack of interest, your body, your life.
