Hi Kasey.
A warm welcome from a Sassenach !
I see you are trying to lose weight. As a T2 usng a combination lo-carb diet I would recommend you check out this link:

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7215#p64246

This is an excellent guide which may help you. There are all sorts of other options which will help as well. Diet advice from the HCP's is usually biased and in my view flawed. Make your own mind up.

Cheers
Ken

evening newbie
i also am new. only found this great site last week. like you i have problems with my weight. i was diagnosed october 07and have not been able to shift any weight until these last 5 days since starting to lo-carb. 5lb have just dropped off. MAGIC !! i had my visit last tues to my diabetic clinic for the usual bloods ect. at present i am on 3 metformin per day.i had a phone call from my dr yesterday afternoon to talk about my results and they show my bs not comming down he wanted me to up my metformin to 4 pr day. i then told him that i am giving lo-carb a try and am starting to shed the pounds. he was very interested in this and said to leave metformin as it is and he would like to see me in a few weeks. so fingers crossed. as a none meat eater with high cholesterol i do struggle a little for ideas. im trying not to go to heavy on the fats. so any ideas fellow fans?
good luck to you newbie. im sure you will have great results eunice
