Hey guys
My names frank I'm from Glasgow and have had diabetes for 10 years. I'm afraid to say my control on it is shocking. To be honest I shouldn't really blame it on anything other than myself. Recently I have been diagnosed with a mild Asperger syndrome. Which I think has a lot to do with my poor control.

Hi Frank and welcome to the forum.

I think you may be on to something there. Aspergers can affect "executive functioning" which is the daily planning and organising we all need to do. My Aspie friend tells me she uses lists a lot and phone reminders. Maybe the key for you will be your record book or a diabetes phone app.

Make sure you have the support of a good specialist diabetes clinic and have a check up and chat with them. Have you been on a DAFNE course? If not, ask them to refer you. When was your last HbA1c test?

You might be interested in reading the newly updated NICE guidelines for T1. For example, newly diagnosed T1s must be offered a basal/bolus MDI insulin regime instead of basal only or mixed insulin.

I think with a bit of planning and extra support from your team and the forum, you will be able to get your control to where you want it to be.
