Newcastle Diet and BMI

Hi, I am new to the forum and have read a great deal about the newcastle diet. My GP is negative about my prospects for success and wasn't interested in reading the info I had downloaded. I am 4 days into the diet and have been reading the forums for support. I have just calculated my BMI and it seems rather higher than Dr Taylor's participants. Does anyone know if the ND can work for someone with higher BMI ? I'm wondering if I should try to get down to required BMI and then start the ND?
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

I did the ND earlier this year, I don't think BMI plays any part in it to be honest. I was obese when I began the diet and dropped loads of weight. I then went onto a LCHF primal diet and got my BMI to 25 (normal) almost two weeks ago. I am a strong advocate for the ND, as I know it works, here is my ND diary: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28731
