Good luck!I eat a natural diet but am interested in the principles of the newcastle diet but don't want to drink the shakes. Can I achieve the same results without the shakes by limiting down to 800 cals/day. I already low carb and intermittent fast so what carb/fat ratio is the newcastle diet. Hopefully can use bone broth instead of shakes at the least.

I did this diet very successfully - HbA1C from 42 to 38 in 12 weeks, Weight 2 stone in 9 weeks and blood pressure down to low end of normal. You can, a few people on here have. Michael Mosley has a book out called 'the 8 week blood sugar diet'. Its based on the NC diet but with food.
Wow pip well done, I have the book...just need to read it. Did you find it easy to do?I did this diet very successfully - HbA1C from 42 to 38 in 12 weeks, Weight 2 stone in 9 weeks and blood pressure down to low end of normal.
I did two meals a day, so my eve meal was a decent size. It was pretty easy, I usually ate fewer than 800 cals but cheated once or twice - hence the 9 weeks duration.

I am going to wait until I am nearer my ideal weight as am struggling with skin shrinking back at the moment so want to keep things slow. Did my body fat in Boots yesterday and it came back at 50% :-O but am coming out of 7 years of very restricted mobility so need to build some basic muscle back up as well as losing the fat. Am just starting exercising with kettlebells so hopefully that will start to kick in. Will have a look at Michael Mosley as he's on kindle, thanks.

Do you have to stop yr Meds when you start? I can (and have had) hypos on my med if I miss a meal or have a low meal so that is a worry.
When I did lighterlife years ago I recall having to stop my Gliclazide immediately and my doc was horrified.
