Hi I am aged 67 and do not have diabetes but do have heart failure and thought i should test myself so i have bought the accu-chek mobile kit.(which i notice has 50 tests but only 2x6 lancets) why cant you use the same lancet for 3 tests over 3 hrs?) Anyway i was wondering what indicates a sufficient amount of food/carbs to eat after doing the first morn/fasting test? sorry if the questions seem a bitsimple but just wanted to be sure and do the tests right. Thank you Sychnant
OK, firstly, the lancets, many on here re-use them. Your doc will say change them every time but I use one for about a week ! Your second question I don't fully understand ? Just do a test when you wake up, before breakfast. If you don't think you have diabetes, why test anyway ?Good luck ! Mo
i change my lancets less often than i ride bareback camel across the mohabi desert, ive tested if it makes a difference loads of time ie. test with old lancets change it and test, its always the same so ive come to the conclusion that it makes no difference, thats just my experience though, ive heard others tell to do it every time

Hi Mo thanks for the reply The second question was about how much to eat in order to change the blood sugar level, and i am doing the tests to check that due to my age health and diet i am not in any way at risk of developing diabetes.. at £20.00 the kit is cheap and gives a good piece of mind. thanks again.. sychnant
OK, the how much to eat question then is easy, eat what you'd normally eat. That's the only way to test. So, test on waking, eat normal breakfast, then test 2 hrs after.
Thanks for all the replies. I did a first fasting test this morning and got a 6.3.. had breakfast (2 toast /poach eggs coffee 2 sugars) and tested 2 hrs later and got a 5.7 Will test again tomorrow ..
