Hi every one i was diagnosed type 2 mid January and was prescribed Metformin and Trajenta with a side order of Esomeprazole for the stomach acid.
The metformin was increased from 500mg twice a day to 850my 3 times a day a week after diagnosis.
My question is should i still be feeling tired run down,sickly and generally run down by a bus.
I know its early days still.
My blood sugar readings are now averaging 7.8 over the past 2 weeks.

That's quite a lot of meds.. what was your HbAc when diagnosed?

What kind of things are you eating? Diet can make a huge difference to blood sugar readings.

Im sorry i dont know.
I was taken to an emergency doctors as id phoned 111 after being so thirsty.
The Doc tested my urine and blood,looked me strait in the face and said you need to go to A&E now!!
I duly turned up there but because of Covid was sent home after various tests,with the words Type2 diabetes ringing in my ears.
All a bit of a shock.
Ive had a rushed diabetic nurse appointment where no blood results where available on the system,so i was asked to go to get my bloods done and rebook.The service is so busy ive managed an appointment for mid next month.
As for food,ive a very limited appetite.No bread No rice No potatoes so very low carb.Never really had sugary stuff anyway.
 

Are you trying to get your bloods done at the doctors or hospital? My hospital has a walk in clinic everyday even during peak covid. It doesn’t sound like you are receiving the best care. Do you have a metre to test your levels?
 
Thank you for your replys.I got my bloods taken late one evening those results where sent to the nurse at my docs its that appointment im waiting to go to.I bought a tester online and test several times a day to see how i react to some types of food.I seem ok with some cereals' and have a heavy protein diet now.The problem is i feel nauseous most of the day and if i eat fatty stuff can feel physically sick.Im in two minds to drop the metformin down myself and see what happens or at least the Trajenta.
 
Up date.
I reduced my metformin to 500 twice a day.I now feel so much better and my fasting bloods are between 6 and 7.
I got an appointment at the diabetic nurse who looked at all my readings berated me on some of the spikes then changed my medication again,after doing this i was told that my testing strips will be removed from my prescription's and now i have to pay for them.
 
I'm glad you are feeling better. It is disappointing that your strips will be removed from your prescription b ut hopefully that means your condition is becoming less serious.

are you now just on metformin or are you still on other medication? Are you able to tolerate some fat now?
