Hi there. Wondering if anyone has an answer. Newly diagnosed for around one month. Got my FBS and random BS within the 4.5 to 6 range ( doing low carb ) today not feeling well ( viral no fever ) eating same but BS up to 8 ( random ) I know it's not a huge jump just curious about the spike and if it's tied into feeling unwell and is it common ?
Thanks
Janice

It is quite common for blood sugar levels to rise when you are ill even if you are vomiting or just not eating much. This is from the liver. Often the blood sugar will rise even before you start to feel ill. It should settle when you are feeling better.

Sorry you are feeling poorly, and worrying about your BS levels won't be helping. It is very common for levels to rise in times of illness, pain, and stress. It is our livers dumping extra glucose in our bloodstreams to help us cope, and perfectly normal. Drink extra water/fluids and do what is necessary to get yourself better.
