Newly Diagnosed- Need some advice?

Hi, around 3 months ago in a P.E lesson at school I came home and I felt awful, collapsed on the settee and light headed ect. Id heard that these symptoms were related to diabetes. Anyway months past but I thought it might had just been a one off then the uncontrollable thirst, after a week of the thirst I went to the doctors and my bg level was 29. I was rushed to hospital and stayed the night being monitored. Anyway I was properly diagnosed and one month on I feel completely in control. I feel so much better but there is one thing that is bugging me, it may be regular but then again I would like some advice on whether to take it further maybe to the doctors or just to the diabetes team.

So the problem is my heart rate, its quite fast resting, but I get large palpations or something, Im not sure if thats what they're called but its basically a heavy heart beat at irregular beats. All I want to know is if this is regular for TP1 Diabetes or if i should get it checked out. Ive had it way before I was diagnosed and when I was diagnosed I thought it would be the solution, turns out it wasnt. Any adive would be much appreciated.

Hey Charlie and welcome!

Well done on feeling in control so soon after diagnosis - you should be very proud of yourself!

It is difficult to know if your irregular heart beat is connected to your diabetes so it would be best to get it checked out. I get a rapid heart beat when my blood glucose levels go low. You might get it because your BGs were high and now you've brought them to normal levels. That can happen and is called a false hypo. Go and speak to your doctor. It is always best to get such symptoms checked.

Take care

Charlie, definitely get it checked out, it quite possibly is something unrelated to your diabetes and even if it is related it needs to be checked.

Turns out it was just when my blood was high my heart pumped faster. Cant remember full diagnoses as it was a few months ago, but turns out nothign to fear :)
