Welcome to the D-team!

Thankfully, I do not suffer the pains you describe. However, there may be a couple of reasons for this which you could investigate:
  • How high is your BG? If your BG is very high you may have ketones. If you are able to test for these, it would be good. If not, don't worry. The reason I mention this is that ketones may cause stomach pains. If you are able to bring your BG down, this will reduce any ketones and, if this is the cause, relieve your stomach pains.
  • Some people suffer from muscle pain with Lantus. This is not something everyone experiences (I was on Lantus for 12 years and had no problems. There are alternative basal insulins available. So, talk to your diabetes team about your pain and they may be able to prescribe an alternative.
