Diagnosed as type 1 three weeks ago, was rushed into hospital with blood sugar of 49 and had 8 keytones, had been feeling ill for a while, but had no idea it was so serious and that I had diabetes. Sugar and keytones now under control.

Like most of you I will now be injecting for life. I have just about got my head around this, however the biggest struggle I am having is getting used to the constant blurry vision, unfortunately my vision seems to have been quite badly affected, I have been referred to a specialist at the hospital as my doctor feels that a regular diabetes eye test is not sufficient.

On the whole I am coping but the worry about the eyes is causing me stress!

When I was first diagnosed 18 months ago my eyes were blurry for a good 2 weeks after diagnosis. I couldn't read text messages on my mobile or a book and if I tried I felt quite dizzy and sick. Thankfully it passed and went back to normal. I was told not to have an eye test in first 6 months of diagnosis as my eyes would still be adjusting to change from high blood sugars to lower more normal ones!

Welcome to the forum @columbus

Blurry vision can be a symptom of high bg levels, when bg levels are high it effects the lens in the eyes which results in the blurriness, when bg levels settle down eyesight returns to normal.

Just the same worth getting checked out at the Ophthalmology Clinic.
