Hi, I am newly diagnosed T2 and trying to get better eating habits in place. I've downloaded the nutracheck app, which allows me to track what im eating and understand how much carbs, fibre protein, etc, i consume.

My question is, is there a standard guideline for each of them so that I can work within the range. Eg. 30g protein, etc...and I know to limit sugar and carbs but how much is alright? I need to loose weight, so I am looking at a calorie deficit diet too.

Thankyou

Basically, no - people cam often cope with some things better than others - I am just unlucky in a way, my gut strips out the carbs really efficiently.
I don't bother with keeping track of anything but the carbs.
Calories seem to be unreliable as when I was eating low fat high carb I gained weight on what felt like miniscule amounts of calories.
I eat foods with 10% carbs or less, stay under 40 gm of carbs a day and don't seem to need to track anything else to be in good numbers and good health.

I don't track any macros, just keep my carb levels low, by avoiding (as much as possible) the usually suspects - Rice, Bread, pastry, potatoes, pasta, cereals. BUT if you can get a meter and test before you eat & 2 hours after, if your BG is more than 2 points higher then your body can't cope with that type/volume of carbs and we're all different. All remember that this is a marathon not a sprint. There is no disgrace in needing medication, what ever you do it needs to maintainable in the long term
