Hi, Just the one blood test. I have to go back in 4 weeksHello , sorry to,hear your news , did you have more than one test to get confirmation .....
Hi @vicky72 here would be my starter suggestions - do change too much too fast. For you breakfast definitely remove the sugar and try porridge instead of cornflakes as it is slower to digest and not packed with sugar like cornflakes. For lunch swap the white bread for something like bergen linseed and soya. A good seedy bread - again slows down the release of the carbs. I suggest you just give up the crisps; try nuts and berries instead. As for chocolate the darker the better as it has less carbs. What I also recommend is a walk about an hour after your main meal. This will make dramatic changes.Hi John
BF - Bowl of cornflakes - Semi Skimmed Milk - White sugar Lunch - Tuna Sandwich on white bread with a packet of crisp - Dinner Chicken Risotto
Snacks - Banana's Chocolate another packet of crisp - 2lt water
Thank you for answering, I feel like my world is going to collapses

I need to shift about 5 stone so its the kick up the bum I need just trying to get my head round what's good and what's not. Your info is fantastic, thank youyes I went through the OMG what can I eat ... Scary times hey. You are only just outside normal so small changes should be able to reverse the trend. I was diagnosed with a level of 91 and managed 40 within 3 months. The key is diet, exercise and losing some weight in my case. If you have some weight you could lose then this will help normalise your levels as well. The key to losing weight is not reducing fat it is reducing carb intake btw
I just remembered I had two blood tests the first was pre diabetic ..just
The second two weeks later ...was completely normal ....no worries for me then ...
The next two years later ...was panic stations and a reading of 18 in the 100's
Only sharing to suggest that you get good follow up....changes happen so fast ....
Best wishes....Kat
Hi WilliamKat100,
Just some questions.
After you had the two blood tests, one of which indicated just were only just in the pre diabetic range did you change your eating habits at all over the following 2 years?
Was it recommended by your health provider to change/improve eating habits and be more active, loose weight, etc?
Or were you given the 'everything is fine, etc, etc'?
A slim bird you could say.Hi Vicky and welcome,
It is a shock, but look on it as a wake up call to change your lifestyle.
There are plenty of things you can eat and these include fresh meat, fish, eggs, cheese in moderation, bacon, green veggies, salads, tomatoes, mushrooms, plain yogurt, berries. Swap your white bread for a low carb bread that is seeded. (I eat one slice of Hovis Seed Sensations - 14g carbs per slice) I cut my carbs, ditched low fat plastic spreads and all low fat products, returned to butter, mayonnaise, full yogurts, I ditched all breakfast cereals.
Yesterday I had
Breakfast. Full fat Greek yogurt with a few strawberries thrown in. 2 mugs of tea with a dash of skimmed milk (I don't like creamy tea)
Lunch. Tinned salmon, cherry toms, cheese, mayo, one slice Hovis with butter. Mug of tea as above.
Tea. Griddled haddock, loads of mushrooms cooked in butter, 2 boiled potatoes (small ones with butter), garden peas, small glass red wine.
I take 2 walks a day, 20 to 30 minutes each.
Since February I have lost 3stones 7lbs which is 27% of my weight. I am now a slim jim at target weight. My blood sugars are well controlled.
With some changes, you can stop yourself becoming diabetic. Good luck.
Hi William
The first blood test put me in the pre range ...
The second one was very normal,..... GP did not give me any cause for concern ...

I was very ill the nearly not waking up stage ....nearly 2 years ago ...GP had a panic then .....
