Diagnosed with type 2 at the beginning of this year after a routine blood test for cholesterol revealed elevated glucose levels. I can't say I was really surprised. I am overweight having lost control after losing my badminton / tennis partner due to relocation and stopping playing followed by giving up smoking and taking an antidepressant that made me lose all control of appetite. Have managed to lose a stone and changed my statin so now down to a HBA of 52 and cholesterol of 3.6. Fasting glucose was 6.0 .Have got to learn to discipline myself. My nurse doesn't want to see me for 6 months as foot and eye screening OK and blood pressure in ideal range. This makes me think I can misbehave for a bit but I know I need to get a grip on myself and sort my diet out. I am currently controlling by diet and have just started to test myself.

I need to see how I respond to certain foods. I have changed to wholefood versions of rice, bread, pasta and also cutting portions. This certainly has had results. Looking for advice and encouragement.

Hi Paul - you certainly seem to know what you are doing.

Good luck and welcome.

Great stuff you're doing fantastic
I personally can't misbehave as my BS rockets if I do. I have got my A1c down to 42 by following LCHF but still find that carbs of any kind send me over the magic 7.8 bs reading so I avoid.

Me too, carbs are my enemy, totally cut out bread pasta rice etc. Wasn't as difficult as I feared.
