Hi
I have just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes after having gestational diabetes last year. I am 27 and the first in my family. So it has been a bit of a shock, I am finding it a bit of an emotional roller coaster, one day I feel ok about it, the next day I am panicking and getting myself into a state. I was told after my pregnancy that i may get it sometime in my life, but to be honest i did not expect to get it after 8 months. I have started 2 insulin injections a day, i feel so much better already. I did not realise how ill i had got. I put the tiredness and weight loss down to having an 8 month old baby.
I am really glad to find this forum as I have loads of questions that pop to mind at random points in the day, and even though my nurse seems really good, I don't want to hassle her over silly things.
I am now finding the future a scary thought and any advice on how to cope in the early stages would be really appreciated.
Rachel
