I have to spend 40+ hrs per week with these people but birthday boy kept saying “I know you’re being good but just have a little bit.” He knows I have type 2 but doesn’t seem to understand that my body can’t handle sugar and carbs properly. It wasn’t even great cake. It was probably 50/50 sponge and buttercream. I’ve never been keen on buttercream. I find it too often a bit slimy and sickly sweet. There are lots of recipes for low carb baking, so you don't have to go without - but watch the amount of any artificial sweetener as it seems vastly over used and makes things taste sickly sweet. I usually start at 1/4 the suggested amount and often find that is fine for my tastes.
If really pressed to have something I don't want to eat I accept and then just put it down and leave it.
Yech - that would have been left on a windowsill or other out of the way place if it was me.I have to spend 40+ hrs per week with these people but birthday boy kept saying “I know you’re being good but just have a little bit.” He knows I have type 2 but doesn’t seem to understand that my body can’t handle sugar and carbs properly. My guests brought a sweet, sticky, fizzy pink wine with them as it was "light and fruity".Yech - that would have been left on a windowsill or other out of the way place if it was me.
Diet is the main thing.Had my second HbA1c test on 2nd December and it was 39, down from 50 in June, I have lost 4 stone in weight and drastically changed my diet but haven't really exercised much. Would that push the level further down or is diet the main thing?
39 is below the level even for pre-diabetes. Yes, it is good, non-diabetic score. Thanks Pipp. So 39 is considered good? I had hoped for lower given I've not had chips, crisps, chocolate etc since June and I think in total I've had 2 cakes and 3 or 4 biscuits.
If you are sticking to mostly low carb there probably aren't too many, but you might want to treat yourself to a cgm just to check occasionally.the extremes either side, what are they like?" Am I thinking to much about this or is there something to that?
