Hi All I was diagnosed Type 1 a month ago after to going to the GP as I felt unwell. It was a week before my 50th birthday. I expected the blood test results to show hormonal changes but less than 24 hours after the blood test was done my GP contacted me and I was immediately admitted to hospital. Very very high Blood Sugar, traces of Ketones (didn't even know what that meant), high iron, cholesterol and infection markers. HBa1C was 134! Also dehydrated. After a few nights I was sent away to deal with it all with limited information (the internet was a godsend). Was then admitted again two weeks later after a routine follow up/check up and stayed a further three nights. All very very overwhelming and the information provided has not been great. Anyway I am now trying the best I can. I thought this may be a good place to be in touch with people in a similar situation , I sometimes feel all of my conversations with family, friends and work colleagues are around how I am feeling. Nice to meet you all. Karen
