2.8 is a tad worrying esp as not accompanied by symptoms; meaning he doesn't realise. This can be variable tho as I have been as low as 2.5 with no symptoms but 4 with all the symptoms so not always easy. The general rule is "Less than 4 and you're on the floor" - sound drastic but it is just a way to remember it.

The nurse is right to mention it not being normal as BG shouldn't go that low, but if no symptoms then ur in a difficult situation. Best way to get a grasp of this is more regular BG checks to see if their is a pattern. I know I am more likely to have a hypo late morning or just before dinner. This is due to my job being mentally (and sometimes physically) demanding.

See how it goes and try to note what he was doing prior to the hypo (if he was playing football for example then his BG would expect to be low); also what he has eaten.

My cousin is twelve and she doesn't feel them either but only when she sleeps (as far as I know) so her parents have to wake her up in middle of the night to check her sugar and doctor said it's nothing worrying , so assume that there are people who feel them when there so young and than there are the ones only when they're older

I've spoak to her she's just told me to reduce his bed time insulin it's not the low blood g it's the fact he has no sypmtoms of hypos I'm already making him test 7 times a day and sometimes in the night it's so draining I'm worrying all the time

Yeah it is worrying but try not to get too stressed etc. It could be counterproductive waking him during the night; making him tired and irritable. Reduce his insulin and let him have a small choc biscuit to see him through the night. Also factor in his activity levels before bed; so as I say if he's been playing a lot of football, keep insulin a bit lower and have a pre-bed snack. That is what I do; if I am reading 4-5 pre bed I will have a snack. I then wake up with similar measurements. I know that if I didn't have the snack it would be likely I drop too low.

Also, are you noticing a higher BG in the morning after having a pre-bed/during night low? If so then it is known as the "Dawn phenomenon" - the liver basically dumps sugar into your blood to respond to a hypo. I've had this before and get a bloody odd reading in the morning; hell one time I took my morning reading and it was at 12mmol/L!! I was shocked! Then again my lowest in the morn was 3.4! It is a bloody odd condition.

Try leaving him to sleep the whole night and see what his morning BG is like? By all means have a look in room during night and see what he is like but leave be. D

I've never let him go to bed under 7 he has a bedtime snack he wakes up around 6-7 bg . The times I've checked in the night is when he's been high before bed 16.4 I'm trying really hard to keep him sticking to everything but he is a kid and sneaks biscuits sometimes . His bg drops for no reason sometimes he's just playing xbox , he always has a breakfast bar before football

Why wake him in the night to test if his pre-bed is 16.4? Yeah this is high but there isn't a need, aside from curiosity, to test him during night. A temp spike is not too much of a concern; it's prolonged rises that are the problem. It's interesting you mention the xbox as had an interesting convo with my endocrinologist about this. Increased brain activity will lower BG levels. The brain can only use sugar for energy and if it is more active then it needs more. Playing computer games takes concentration and a fair bit of brain work.
Also, he is likely still in the honeymoon period, where his pancreas is still producing some insulin. I was diagnosed ~10/11m ago and still am in this period. Pros and cons to it mind. Pro in that I need less insulin (85Kg bloke taking 4iu morning and 6-8iu evening!) but con because can be difficult avoiding hypos. That and if one day it decides to just not function then BG shoots up. What is he on?
