A prototype sensor detects type 1 diabetes in breath.... air from diabetics contains higher levels of acetone vapor and this new sensor can selectively detect acetone even in the smallest concentrations...

doesn't say where the acetone comes from or how it might help those who are already T!, still fascinating stuff. 8)
 
Nice find. Wouldn't it just be brilliantif you could breath on a test strip and it would read your sugar level though :D
 
Indeed, I was hoping that's what it would do but not so far... might be good to help with diagnosis for those averse to a pricking of the thumbs! 8)
 
Surely this would pick up T2 also and bg needs to be quite high to breath out ketones.
