NHS does it again...

Just came across this....

Very low calorie diet

A very low calorie diet (VLCD) is defined as a diet that involves consuming less than 1000 calories a day.

An example of a VLCD would be:

a bowel of cornflakes for breakfast
a single jaffa cake as a mid-morning snack
a chicken salad sandwich for lunch
a low calorie lasagne for an evening meal
a pear for an after-dinner treat

This plan also assumes that you will be drinking water or diet drinks throughout the day as most other popular drinks such as tea and coffee contain calories.

Remember excessive amounts of fizzy diet drinks can damage your teeth; they may not contain sugar, but they do contain high levels of certain acids.

While a VLCD can be an effective method of losing weight for some obese people, is it not a suitable or safe method for everyone. It would usually only be recommended if rapid weight loss was required to reduce the risk of an obesity-related complication such as heart disease, or if you have failed to lose weight despite conventional treatment. You should only ever undertake a VLCD under the supervision of a suitably qualified health professional.

I dont know why the NHS cant see past the bread, pasta and biscuit route...I honestly feel like giving up with diet altogether and going back to eating what i used to...grrrrr

Better it does actually say "A BOWEL of cornflakes" which sums it up quite well. Should it be a BOWEL of Kellogg's Cornflakes to keep DUK happy I wonder?
 
Xyzzy, just read it, what a croc of S**t, sorry a bowel of S**t !

We just have to take the lethal NHS advice with a bowelful of statins also !

yeah xyzzy, thats exactly where i found it....Makes me wanna grab every consultant at the NHS and shake them :lol: :lol:

I tried the "nhs" diet for a week and put 4lb back on.....So guess I'll stick to what i want to do....and pray to god they never give me any more advice again lol :crazy:

Haha this is what gets me...:



A healthy diet should consist of :

plenty of fruit and vegetables
plenty of potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and other starchy foods; ideally you should choose wholegrain varieties
some milk and dairy foods
some meat, fish, eggs, beans and other non-dairy sources of protein
just small amounts of food and drink that are high in fat and sugar


Don't they realise Spuds, pasta, fruit and rice turns to sugar anyway?!
 

lol Hellbunny...of course they dont...its the NHS...where their diet goes and only their diet goes lol....If we all followed that road, we'd all be making ourselves worse and not better lol :lol:
 
I suppose to them High fat diet = Fail lol. You know i'd be lost without this forum, i'm only on day 1 of low carb and my readings are fantastic!

I'm really struggling with everything but have my first 3 month check up in 2 weeks time, so guess I'll see how i'm doing then lol
