Hi, realise I should know the answer to this! With the COVID-19 scenario changing all of the time, should I be offering myself to do ward based work (as we've been asked to) as Diabetics are on the vulnerable list? I'm an NHS Project Manager by trade, not based near wards; but we are all needed on wards atm due to a go live right in the middle of CoronaVirus. I have no symptoms, and am perfectly well - but am late 40's, and have been Type 1 33 years. Am unsure how to interpret the advice, anyone know for sure?

I'm assuming your time of the wards would be floor walking, type duties, for your go-live, as opposed to patient care duties?

Nobody here can tell you what to do. Perhaps you could mention your T1 status to Occupational Health for guidance.

Has your go-live gone past the Go/No Go decision as yet? If your project isn't regulation/business/health critical might it not be beyond possible that it could potentially be deferred for a while?

I agree with this, it's a developing situation with info restricted data. Even if the project doesn't get delayed your front line involvement should be. We all have a duty to be sensible (as in sensitive to the situation) it's frustrating to be "weak" because of our diabetes but we do no one any favours by minimising the risk.

No don't do ward work, but do talk to your surplies department etc to see if they need help unloading lorries, likewise do any departments needing people to phone pt to rearrange appointments etc.
