I have been asked to sign an NHS contract agreeing to discontinue use of my GLP1 medication unless i lose a specified amount of weight and reduce my HBA1C by a specified amount in the next 6 months. My issue with this is I have been on this med for 16 years so am unlikely to a specific reduction now, I did stop it some eight years ago and my HBA1C doubled. It seems unreasonable to ask me to enter into a contract to stop a med that history shows has worked for well for me just because of the lack of radical effect in the next 6 months.

Has anybody else faced this challenge and how did you overcome it?

Thanks, Karen

Have you asked for support to lose weight. I was prescribed Ozempic and that had helped me go from a size 18 to a 12. Really helped. However, I know the drug is in demand and hard to get hold of. Good luck.

To get the full picture - what are your incentives/benefits to signing a contract, and what happens if you don't? It sounds very odd to me. As far as I know, the deal is that we have money taken from our income to fund the NHS and their part is to provide treatment options.
