Re: NICE Publishes New Guidance On Preventing Type 2 Diabete
It's a good thing that they recognize the increasing damage to well-being caused by diabetes in these populations.
However, it's disappointing that their dietary advice for prevention is:
-- <snip> encourage people from black and minority ethnic (BME) and lower socio-economic groups to be more physically active and to adopt a healthier diet by ensuring local shops stock good quality, affordable fruit and vegetables.
-- <snip> work with food manufacturers, caterers and retailers to improve some prepared foods to decrease calories, saturated fat and salt content, and improve food labeling.
Not a mention here of refined sugars, flours etc. Same old, same old, seems to me.
