Hi everybody. Today's morning I had a bit interesting graph at my Dexcom. I went to bed at 10 pm with BG 7.7, at 2 am it become 4.3 and then in the morning I got 8.3. Can you help me is it prolonged insulin (Levemir at my case) overdose?

@Eugenen HMMMMMM bit tricky to tell.

Have you noticed this before?

It could simply be good old 'Dawn Phenomena' where your body dumps a load of energy in to you and help in getting you ready for the morning .

The drop at 2am is not unusual because the body 'should' be in a deep sleep at that point so using very little of anything. I find that a lot in the graphs I use.

If I got those figure through the night it would not be that concerning, but that is just me.

Oh Hello and Welcome to the forum :)

Hi @Eugenen ,

How did these figures on the Dexcom compare against a finger prick meter test? (Before bed & on waking.)

Thanks a lot. So my night dose is alright?

I am no medical expert so I can't put my hand on heart and say 'yes' we are all different in the way we work.

As jaylee points out, and I should of, does the Dexcom figures compare to finger prick readings?

If these figures are a regular occurrence to you then that might just be the way you work, BUT if this Dexcom is new to you then you are on a route of discovery about how the wonderful world of T1D works.

I'm in the same boat with Libre :)

Before sleep and after it Dexcom and glucometer measures results almost coincided.

Hi again,
Do you split or single dose your basal?

How long have you been diagnosed? How long have you been using the CGM?

Sorry for all the Qs. Just ascertaining for the benefit of concise replies... :)

Ok, here you go. Basal is 2 times a day. Diagnosed a bit more than a year ago. CGM usage is about a week.

I haven't drunk anything because I'm just 14)) And yep on Dex it was for the 1st time because last few nights BG was slowly increasing till morning therefore I increased the dose.

Ah, sorry. Your age on your profile is down as "22."

So the only thing "different" in your regime prior to last night was an increased dose of evening basal..

When is your next appointment with your diabetic HCP team? Personally, I would be inclined to contact them..

I had to put this age to be allowed to register. Also, I'm not from the UK or US and I'm not sure that I have HCP team which I can contact at any time

OK, don't worry. You are not in any trouble.. ;)

In the teen years, hormones play a large part & can mess with BGs. Though, you come across as a sensible person.
You do need to consult your diabetic doctor with regards to any insulin dosage adjustments.

I use Lantus as a basal, & find the danger zones for any lows at night (if they happen?) around the 2-3am or 5-6am mark.
