Last week I had my first proper hypo, it happened on Friday night at around 10pm. I wasn't even sure what it was to begin with, but I had extremely blurred vision, to the point I could barely see, I felt dizzy and confused. I should say I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in Dec 2009. I have been taking Humalin M3 for around 2 years, and as I said this was the first hypo I experienced. I have since had another 3 hypos all happening around 3 am.
I have been on a low cal low fat diet since January when i was 30st 6lb, I am now 26st 4lb, at first I was losing weight at a steady rate, but the last few weeks it has stopped. I know that a side effect of hypoglycemia is weight gain, which is making me think that i may have been having these hypos in the wee small hours for a few weeks.
At my last diabetic clinic my insulin was dropped from 100 units morning and night, to 90 units morning and night. And after calling the clinic this morning they have dropped my night dose to 70 units as a trial.
I test my BG at 10am and 5pm, should i be testing more often?
