Hi everyone,
I would like to ask 2 questions which Im sure are silly but here goes... :? I have not yet been given the diabetes diagnosis but I know unless I change its on the cards however---My GP has given me 3 months to loose weight and thus reduce my blood sugar levels. In the last 4 weeks I have lost a stone and my day time readings are variable but between 4.5 to 5.6(they were between 7.4-11)At night time though the gremlins come out to play and by the morning Im reading on average are between 5.9 to 6.5.I have read about liver dump and understand this raises in all of us.However,my 2 questions are--are these night time readings within an acceptable range ?I notice that my blood sugar drops after about half an hour of waking and... when I get up I wash dress and then take my reading should I be taking the reading immediately on waking?

Hi Benjygirl,
I am so sorry if I have caused upset but Im new to this and my Doc has made it very clear what I must do to avoid problems. :?

Hi Alison,

The longer your sugar is high the more damage is done. So in my mind, the main question is whether your readings are high most of the night or just for a few hours in the morning. You can set an alarm and check them at 1am, 3am, 5am on different nights.

If they are only high for a few hours in the morning around awakening then I wouldn't worry, but if they're high from 1am to 7am then you should see if you can do anything about it.

Hi Alison there was no way you caused upset. You must be doing something right. I've only been diagnosed Type1 for 2 years and I'm still finding it quite hard to get my levels constant. From reading replies from people who have had diabetes for many years, I think it takes a good while to get your head around everything. Everyone on this forum gives very good advice. I hope I didn't upset you. I was just a bit envious of your morning readings. I can never get mine under 7. All the best for the future !!
