If you go high during the night, what does this mean and how do you prevent it?

I tested at midnight after meeting friends for drinks, stayed in the 6 range all day and at midnight I had gone up to 9... No carbs at all after dinner at 6.

Any thoughts?

Diet coke from a can. I make sure now that I don't have anything draft as its too risky!!

Did you have a high fat/high carb dinner? I find my blood glucose can rise very slowly when I have a high fat meal - often peaks at 12am-2am even if I ate at 6pm or 7pm....

I wouldn't do anything off the back of one nights bg readings, do some testing tonight and in the early hours of the morning, if your bg is increasing then its likely your basal insulin needs increasing.
