As a 63 year old male, this may simply be a case of "anno domini"..... the prostate gland typically increases in size with age, impinging on the bladder and urethra, and one of the first signs of this is the need to get up to pee in the night. So it may be nothing to do with diabetes, but more to do with your age and gender.
Typical symptoms of an enlarged prostate are frequency (which you are beginning to experience at night), hesitancy, urgency, and failure to completely empty the bladder, which are delights you have yet to experience! I suggest you visit your GP, who will do a brief rectal examination and probably tell you your prostate is a little enlarged, and order a blood test just to check for PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen), to eliminate the very small risk of prostate cancer (which is eminently treatable if caught early). I'm not a doctor, and have no qualifications to back up the above, except for considerable personal experience. Get it checked out, and put your mind at rest.
