I have been doing the lchf since the beginning of January and so far have lost about 17lb. I have reduced my insulin from 120 units daily to 44 units daily. Feeling happy about that. I still need to lose about 4 stone though.
I have fibromyalgia which is really bad at the moment and am apparently anaemic. The gp wants to find out what's causing the anaemia and my liver is showing protein.
I am feeling rotten at the moment. I'm so tired I could sleep all day. I don't have an appetite and really don't want to eat. Do you have any suggestions for something small I could eat to keep me going? Or is it okay to not eat anything some days? Thanks in adance. Deb

Hi @deb1960

Well done on that weight loss!
Sorry you are feeling so rough.
If you have only been doing lchf for 6 weeks or so, you may still be adjusting. It can take a while.
Have you had a google for what happens during the adjustment? How we need to drink more, may need magnesium and potassium?
But the anaemia will be making you feel very tired (i have a friend who was anaemic last year, she was exhausted for months). Do you know what your iron count is? And what treatment have you been prescribed?

I hope they get to the bottom of it, and your liver too.

Regarding food choices, i think your priority should be something that appeals. Are you nauseous at all, or do you just have no appetite? Is there anything that you crave?

Whenever I am under the weather i snap right back to childhood memories.
We only ever got Ribena when we were at death’s door, haha!
Also Cadbury's chocolate fingers ( don’t ask me why!)
And poached eggs.
My goodness, poached eggs with a dab of butter, on toast.
Oh, and tomato soup.

I could get myself LC options of all of those (well, except the choc fingers!) if I wanted too.
Sugar free Ribena or other blackcurrant
Prob 70% choc.
And then eggs on low carb bread like a Lidl roll. With butter.
LC tom soup is easy too. Onion, tinned toms, herbs and/garlic, and a splash of cream

Obviously, your comfort foods will be very different from mine. But have a think about what appeals, and then see if you can find a version that works.

Under normal circs, missing meals is fine for type 2s (and you obviously know how to adjust your insulin to avoid hypos).
But with the anaemia you may have been told that you need to eat?

I had more blood tests on Thursday to find out what exactly is going on with my anaemia and liver. My liver enzymes are back to normal (no more fatty liver) .I'm going back to see the gp on Wednesday if my results are back. She gave me a print out of my previous results and myeloma was mentioned which is scary but hopefully isn't the case.

Good luck with your results. :)

I have seen a couple of members on here stating they no longer have a fatty liver because their liver enzymes are normal. The ALT and Gamma GT levels can indicate a fatty liver if they are raised, but good results don't guarantee a fatty liver has disappeared. Only an MRI scan can determine that.
